Dagonet wasn't one much for words. Vowels and consonants felt clumsy on his tongue, made as much sense as sleeping without a weapon nearby. So much about his life was beyond his control – where he slept, ate, the language he spoke, why he fought and whom. He couldn't control the weather or Woad attacks or Lancelot's unpredictable mood swings.

But, when he was here, in the glow of the fire, hands and lips roaming over Arthur's sweat-slick skin in rough greed...here everything made sense. Here his tongue felt – not clumsy – but poetic, tracing lines and stanzas on Arthur's skin. Here, there was peace.

"Nope. Gotta call his wife."

"One of those." Nicolaj nodded, as if that settled the matter. "Don't you have to call yours?"

"Nope."

"But I thought you were..."

"Don’t think, Nic," William smirked, eyes crinkling with secrets. "Now finish your drink so we can continue this back at mine."

Viggo's observation was laconic, cut through the raucous din of the crowded club. "Girls like that...they deserve someone better."

Orlando followed Viggo's gaze to the dancefloor -- Miranda, all butterfly soft and just as dazzling, laughing as an inebriated Dom tried to teach her the mamba -- and shrugged. "Yeah, well, had your shot at her, didn't you? Not my fault if she chose me."

"Not for long, I bet," Viggo drawled. "I hear Karl’s been sniffing around."

"Thought he was your bitch," Orlando frowned.

Viggo just grinned. "Orlando, don’t you know by now you’re all my bitches?"

Randy frowned. "You do not."

"If you say so."

Randy continued to frown. "You don't, and, anyway, that's not the point."

"No, it's not." Gary moved his knight. "Point is, Sanderson won't be walking right tomorrow courtesy of Hoot, and I've got your queen in three."

Randy looked down at the board and swore.
