Title: "Persuasion"
Author: Brenda
Fandom: LOTR RPS (AU)
Pairing: Karl Urban/Elijah Wood (Orlando Bloom)
Rating: R
Summary: Hunting is an easy sport if you have the right tools.
Feedback: Love it.
Disclaimer: Never happened.
Notes: Written for the Two Lines Challenge fic challenge (lyrics were 'what happens when the heart just stops/stops caring for anyone').
AU set in the same universe as [livejournal.com profile] lotr_speakeasy, but is NOT canon for that universe in any way, shape or form. You don't have to be familiar with it to get what's going on.
For [livejournal.com profile] samena, who stumped me on this fic challenge and requested Karl/Elijah.

"Pain looks great on other people
That's what they're for"

-- The Sisters of Mercy

"Oh, well now, aren't you a pretty little sight."

"Which one?"

Karl tipped his empty glass towards the chair in the corner before setting it down, and Orlando took an obliging look. And whistled. "Very pretty," he agreed. "But fragile looking. I don't think he's up to your usual speed, Urban."

Karl's grin was a tad cruel, but still beautiful. The smile earned him more than one appraising glance from the patrons and whores in Tartine's club, but he paid the attention little mind. He was well used to eyes following him everywhere. "You're wrong," he said. "I bet he can take anything I give to him."

"Could be. But if you play too rough, I won't bail you out again."

"Spoilsport."

"I've got enough going on for Al without cashing in my markers to help you avoid jail time."

"So noted." Karl clapped Orlando on the back, hand lingering on the solid line of muscle beneath the expensive cut of Orlando's suit. Why the hell not...

"Sure you wouldn't like to join me?" Karl painted the words along the shell of Orlando's ear, masking a pleased smirk when Orlando shivered for him. So easy, even for a man with Orlando's well-deserved reputation. Which is what would make his inevitable surrender even better. "He'd look mighty pretty between the both of us."

Karl smirked again when Orlando's lashes flickered, gaze settling across the room. Vivid blue eyes snapped back at them, dismissed them both, only to return seconds later. A wary, but curious rabbit – one Karl had every intention of snaring. "I do believe he's challenging us," he murmured, stepping closer to the welcoming heat of Orlando's body. The quarry (and what a beautiful, pale-skinned quarry he was) followed the movement.

"Karl, I don't..." Orlando shivered again when Karl's hand brushed down, burrowed under the jacket to smooth over the thin fabric of his shirt. "He's just a kid. We'd kill him."

"A kid who's been daring us to go over and take him from the second he walked into the club," Karl argued, and licked at the shell of Orlando's ear. He imagined it was another ear – soft and pale – and his quick glance told him that his prey was definitely watching with interest. And barely concealed impatience.

"Josh..."

"Is a big boy, and I'm sure he can find his own amusement for the night." And even if he wasn't, that wasn't any of Karl's concern. He had Orlando where he wanted him, and the promise of getting the pretty, big blue eyes of his little rabbit to cloud over with pain and pleasure. He wondered what welts would look like against translucent skin, and had to suppress his own shiver. The hunger, black and never too far from the surface, bubbled up, and he allowed it free rein. "If you're unsure, you could always just watch," Karl reasoned, teeth catching Orlando's lobe with a well-placed bite. "I bet he bruises nicely."

Orlando groaned, a low, heated sound, and Karl took advantage, brushing a light kiss to Orlando's open mouth. Karl didn't need to turn to know the quarry was perched on the edge of his seat, feigned nonchalance forgotten as he watched the show that was purely for his benefit. "I'll take that as a yes," Karl murmured, when Orlando's passion-hazed eyes met his. "Wait here."

He left Orlando standing where he was – aching and wanting and most likely hating himself for it, but it wasn't like it mattered. Morals and scruples were for the weak, and they both knew it. Karl had better things to do with his time than worry about societal restrictions – especially when it came to things he wanted. And what he wanted right now was to snatch his prey and hustle him someplace private so he (and Orlando, who would definitely be joining them) wouldn't have to worry about anyone overhearing the screams.

And there would definitely be screaming.

He stopped in front of the chair, taking in the posed slouch, the way snug trousers framed an obviously hard cock, the tension in slender shoulders, the invitation in those vivid blue eyes. Ripe for the taking. "My friend and I were just going out to get some fresh air," Karl said by way of greeting, gesturing negligently to the other side of the room where Orlando waited. "Would you care to join us?"

Karl waited with amusement as an insolent stare raked him from head to toe, lingering on his hands and groin. "Sure, why not," came the reply, and a delicate shoulder lifted in a shrug that spoke of indifference and lied.

Oh yes...Karl was definitely going to enjoy breaking this one.

Thank you so much!!!

And if you want to see more, [livejournal.com profile] idiosyncratic wrote an outstanding sequel (of sorts), called Payment Due (http://www.livejournal.com/users/fadedink/19147.html). *g* We're evil, I admit. There may be more.

*laughs* I have no control over Karl. But I can safely say that he'll make sure Elijah enjoys it.

I kept expecting Josh to show up to claim his property but that wasn't where this bit of delightful sin meant to take us. Superb,,and sublime at the same time.

No, Josh is nowhere around to save either Orlando or Elijah (in fact, he doesn't even KNOW Elijah in this version).

Glad you liked it. *grins* I wish we really could get a Karl like this in the real events.

Well look at you, writing Elijah! Nice, very nice. I must admit I'm intrigued. It would definitely be an interesting confrontation/assignation, no question about that. Very interesting indeed.

Thank you SO much for this amazing fic, Brenda!! It was everything I could have wanted, and so much more. The funny thing is: I usually shy away from dark, sadistic Karl, but the way you write him, he's just irresistible. Like he is in all your fics. I don't know if I've ever told you this, but I got hooked on Karl (and Harry) after reading him in the Claimed series. So, it's all your fault. ;P

I had never read anything in this universe before, but I see I'll have to change that. ;) And of course I'd LOVE it if you wrote more of this!! But I know you don't usually write Elijah. I'm immensely grateful, and honoured, that you did this time. *bows down for you*

*beams* I'm so chuffed you liked it, hon! I was a little afraid you wouldn't, seeing as how I put Orlando into it.

(And thanks! Claimed!Karl & Harry are just about the hottest things ever. *g*)
