I'm really happy that your 2008 post linked back to this because somehow I'd missed this.
I don't read much LotR FPS, frankly because I'm not familiar with the books and the 'tolkienest' style usually isn't my thing. What you did with this, though, was quite marvelous because in your portrayal of the characters I could clearly see Urban's Éomer, Bloom's Legolas etc. which drew me right in.
And then your story proceeded to be wonderful - it was my main reason to start reading fanfic because I wanted to explore fictional characters, wanted my understanding of them become enlarged, deepened.
It's the case with this story as well, Éomer's self assurance, his friendly nature, but also his insecurity, his attachment to Legolas, and the resignment near the end, they all fit the character perfectly and make him even more alive in my mind.
I liked your portrayal of Legolas as well because you captured his composure, his age very well and at the same time it was so evident that he felt himself drawn to Éomer, and happily so.
