LJ, I hate you so much for deleting my long, thoughtful comment. Grrrrr. The short version - as much as I've always loved your writing, I can see it improving, and this makes me happy. This was beautiful, Karl's reactions were perfect, and thought I almost wanted him to just give Orli a categorical "no," I like the way you ended it.
