'Black Hawk Down' Drabble: "Checkmate" 1/1 (Randy Shughart/Gary Gordon)

Title: "Checkmate" 1/1
Author: Brenda
Pairing: Randy Shughart/Gary Gordon
Rating: PG
Summary: Mild disagreement.
Feedback: Love it.
Disclaimer: Never happened.
Notes: Drabble for [livejournal.com profile] _mensrea_.

"So," Randy tapped Gary on the shoulder before swinging his leg over the chair, and settling in. "Whaddaya think?"

Gary squinted and shrugged, then turned his attention back to the chessboard. "Hoot's bigger."

"That don't mean nothing," Randy scoffed. "You're bigger."

"Yeah, and I let you."

Randy frowned. "You do not."

"If you say so."

Randy continued to frown. "You don't, and, anyway, that's not the point."

"No, it's not." Gary moved his knight. "Point is, Sanderson won't be walking right tomorrow courtesy of Hoot, and I've got your queen in three."

Randy looked down at the board and swore.

Mwahahaha - I love this! (Dances around the room like a teenager - gotta stop doing that, it's hell on my arthritic knees). My other not so secret fav pairing + my Sanderson / Hoot. Life is sweet.I just love the undertones and humour in this.

On a slightly scary note, I aslo sat down and wrote this pairing (with the boys also thinking about the other pairing) this afternoon. Mine is much more of a silly crackfic though, so feel free to avoid at all costs when it goes up this pm.

Am working on the more "serious" one, following your comments, and will post that later tonight hopefully.

Ack!! You must rent (or better yet, just buy it). Seriously, one of the best war films I've ever seen, and the eyecandy is enough to blow your mind. *grins* It's in my top five of favorite films of all time.

Thank you!!! *grins* I love the snark, man. Whyfor isn't there more snark in this fandom? *paws at you*

[identity profile] azewewish.livejournal.com 2005-03-13 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* I really wanted to write you a proper Hoot/Sanderson, but, well, Gary & Randy just kinda took over. As they do. :)

And, by all means, put up your fics. Now. Erm, um, please? *g*

Bwahahahahaha.

(I think this Sanderson/Hoot thing is really taking off! Yay!)
*wanders off to muse on the relative bignesses of Gary and Hoot*

*grins* Oh, I've always loved the idea of Hoot/Sanderson. All of the hot Delta!ness together...plus, well, it's Bill & Eric, man. *fans self*

You know what we really need, though? A Hoot/Gary fic with them wrestling to see who gets to top. *grins*

[identity profile] azewewish.livejournal.com 2005-03-13 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay!!! You won't be disappointed. *grins*

It's violent & sad, but also very funny in spots & very realistic. And Ridley Scott (i.e. God) directed it, so it's just beautifully made.

And it has Josh. *pets*

Now that's going to be in my head all week.

Well, I'd hate to be thinking about it all on my own...

(not exactly as outlined above, but. I actually wrote something, which is amazing in of itself.)

"Oh. Sorry man, I thought you and Shug-"

Gary snorted. "Hoot, Randy and I are a lot of things, but that's not one of them. Besides, he has a wife."

Hoot rolled his eyes. "Plent of guys have wives, Gordy, or haven't you noticed? Wives back in the States. Hell, I had a wife. I know-"

"Alright. Randy has a wife that he loves above all else, and a family that's on hold until he gets back." Gordon, rolled his shoulders, the tension building up. Hoot did this to him, always.

"Aren't you a part of their family? Uncle Gary?" Hoot wheedled him more.

"Yes, a part of the family. In the friendly, platonic, non-sexual way. Now, do you want that blowjob or not?"

It's violent & sad,

Ah shit! I just checked out the movie on the net, Now I remember why I never wanted to see it. I don't know if I can watch it, it's breaking my heart right now...I'm all choked up and want to cry...at the time I was married to an active duty soldier who was behind the lines in Iraq...I remember the news very vividly of the soldier's beaten body being dragged through the streets of Mogadishu...our military comm. was devastated...I'm sorry Brenda...eye candy and all, I don't think I can watch it yet.

I think Gary is right.

*hugs*

It's alright, hon. The movie hit close to home for me, too. I was married at the time to a Ranger in 3rd Bat -- he would have been in Somalia, but he got out early 1993. A lot of his friends were there, though & some of them died that day. The movie is really a testament to those boys & how brave they were, which is one reason I love it so much.

It is a tough film, though. So, yeah, use your best judgement. *more hugs*
