Yeah, I know what you mean, I have always quite loved John, and always assumed that he went from being 'daddy' to 'sir' without realising it. And I think that change was good/bad, because he was protecting his boys by any necessary means, but at the same time they 'lost' their 'dad' whom was replaced by 'sir.'
